Being active is an important aspect of being healthy and in Liverpool sport and physical activity is akey part of our lives. To be active you need to take personal responsibility and make a choice to find out waht activities are available, where they are located and how they can be accessed.
In order to benefit health children need to be active for at least one hour per day every day, whilst for adults the target is 30 minutes per day for at least five days a week. Activity comes in many different forms including walking, cycling, dance, play, traditional sport, gym based, use of parks and outdoor spaces for activity etc.

Keeping active in Liverpool
Keep as active as you can everyday but combine this with relaxation and you will feel good, look good and even live longer.
The main way to achieve this is to choose activities that you will enjoy. It doesn’t have to be extreme; even walking is great or dancing to music in your own living room. Remember, to avoid injury, start gently and build up. Stop if you feel discomfort and if in doubt seek advice from a qualified fitness professional or see your doctor.
Recent research has shown that in Liverpool only 18% of adults are active enough to benefit their health. The targets for children to be active are not being met.
The Liverpool Active City initiative sets out to bring together the providers of sport and physical activity in the city to ensure that they are aware of each of the different activity projects around the city. Find out more here:
